Here it is: A summary of my past fifty years handwritten on a page ripped from my navy and orange spiral notebook.

I am retired now, thereby achieving my lifelong goal of daily sloth and not having to go to work.  I was an excellent employee and very good at whatever task was put before me but working was ALWAYS just a means to the end:  retirement.

Nineteen years ago the love of my life, Sam Skoog, died at age 47 from complications of acute lymphocytic leukemia.   I have been on my own and wholly supporting myself ever since.  My daily (retired!) life is filled with books and reading and my treasured Sussex Spaniels.  I only have one Sussex Spaniel now (Keller, age 2) but had as many as five canine kids over the past thirty-some years.

In an uninvited encore to my sophomore and junior years at Cooper, I fought a pitched battle with anorexia throughout my late twenties and early thirties.  The illness is behind me now but I still exercise caution with food situations.  I am neither fat nor thin, with some normal senior sag going on in selected areas.

I have worked in three separate careers over the years:
- rare book and paper restoration at the Minnesota Historical Society
- international customer service and export management manufacturing corporations
- public library reference librarian and branch library manager in Salt Lake County.

So that’s it, my life. I hope my handwriting was neat enough.
