OBITUARY...
John M Seaver, 61, passed away Friday July 13th, 2012 at his home.

Born August 4, 1950 in Watertown, S.D. to Margaret (Rider) and Louis Seaver. Other than a 10-year hiatus after his sons attended college, he spent his entire life in S.D. He married Rhonda K. Lehmann on August 15, 1970. He graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1968. After a short stint at the S.D. School of Mines & Technology, John enlisted in the army serving 3-years in Germany.

After the birth of his 1st son and returning to the U.S., he joined the S.D. National Guard where he stayed 20-years. John and Rhonda moved to Bellevue, NE, in 1995 after her job transferred from Ellsworth to Offutt AFB’s.

John graduated Metropolitan Community College with an associate’s degree in computer science in 2000. He worked for Raytheon at Offutt AFB, WOW radio in Omaha, NE, and spent 5 years at Papillion/La Vista School District. In 2005, Rhonda accepted a position back at Ellsworth AFB and they both loved to be back in the Black Hills closer to their family. John started work at the Rapid City Journal in 2006 until he gave up his position in 2011 so a young family could stay employed.

While living in Rapid City, John was very active in Masonic Lodge #25 serving as Worshipful Master. He also enjoyed York Right, Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge #325 in Bellevue, NE, and singing for the Tangier Shrine Chanter Unit in Omaha, NE. He helped both his sons being active in Boy Scouts Troop #4 and the Order of DeMolay Minnelusa chapter as chapter dad, both in Rapid City.

He loved to help people improve themselves throughout their lives. John loved riding his motorcycles everywhere. He talked Rhonda into riding all over the country, from WA State to Washington D.C. He also enjoyed watching his dirt bike tumble down the mountainside, fishing, cooking, storm watching, playing with the dog, fireworks, hiking, and recently biking. He also volunteered with the Feed South Dakota back pack program, Rapid Valley United Methodist Church, and cleaning the turtle pond out his back door.

Most important to him were his family. He traveled across the state to Sioux Falls and to Spokane, WA to attend hockey games, soccer games, birthdays, holidays, and playing on the floor with his grandkids. He also traveled the state to care for his mother and visit with relatives, of which there were hundreds. He left this world at the height of his life. John was the happiest he’d ever been. He will be forever loved as we still receive his love. Survivors include his mom, Margaret (Rider, Seaver) Singrey of Hazel, S.D., his wife of 42 years, his best friend and life-long lover Rhonda (Lehmann), His brother Edward (Davie) of Rapid City, his sister Marlou (Michael) Audus of Clark, S.D., His two sons Bryan (Lari) of Sioux Falls, Christopher (Deseray) of Spokane, WA, his 5 grandchildren Logan, Connor, Dakota, Ellianna, Kiran, and countless cousins and friends. Preceded In death by his father, Louis Seaver, and Sister-in-law Cathy

Seaver. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and Masonic rites by Masonic Lodge 25
