In Memory of Class of 1965 Fallen Knights....

The Dash by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end

He noted that first came her date of her birth
And spoke the following date with tears
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider whats true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So when your eulogy is being read
With your lifes actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

Richard W. Pittman

Yesterday was Memorial Day. 2019
Yesterday we lost our Veteran. It is so fitting that my dad left us on Memorial Day as he bled Red, White and Blue.
Yesterday our Jordan came for her poppy.
Yesterday our lives were once again changed forever.
Yesterday my very first hero left us.
Yesterday my mom lost the love of her life and the man she has barely spent a day without for 46 years.
Yesterday my dad made his way to the place where he is no longer in pain and can now look over all of us and be with my baby girl (I am sure those two will be causing trouble).
We knew this day was coming with my dad. He has been fighting lung cancer for 18 months. We had been holding out hope that he would be here for his newest granddaughter’s birth. That was not in the cards. I believe my dad really lost his will to live when we lost Jordan. He wanted to go and be with her. Now they are together. ❤️
I am so incredibly sad and he will he missed tremendously. He was a rock in our lives and the guy who consistently made us laugh and cringe, with his inappropriate comments. I am the epitome of a daddy’s girl and I am so lucky to have been his daughter. I got an amazing dad and my kids got the best poppy.
We can swallow this loss a little easier as we know he was ready, he was so willing and wanted to be in heaven and with his brother Frank, with Jordan, and all his brothers he lost during Vietnam.
Our family is strong and we love each other so very much. We will get through this very difficult time and will be there for one another every step of the way as we grieve both Jordan and Richard Pittman and the loss of two VERY special people.

January 11, 2021 at 7:33 AM  ·

Yesterday my beautiful mommy went home to be with her Lord and Savior! We should have been preparing for her departure from us but instead we knew she was a fighter and in past times had always come back to us when faced with her body in physical crisis. She fought a very good fight, but unexpectedly on her husbands, our fathers, 75 birthday she gained her beautiful wings, left her tormented beaten body and flew home to walk the streets of gold. I love you, we love you and although we will miss all your humor and wit, your guidance and instruction and especially your take charge matter of fact attitude! Mom we are alright knowing you are free from all your pain and suffering and it won’t be too long before we are all together again celebrating with you and the rest of our heavenly family in Glory Land!!! Don’t worry about dad we  have him 🥰💗😘

Suzi's daughter, Christine Reeves Baker, contacted me and told me that her Mom, our Suzie, was so full of life and these last few weeks have been so hard. It wasn’t mom at all! Let everyone know Suzie never lost her wit or humor, she was as vivacious and and fun loving as she was back when y’all remembered her! She hit life head on, smiling always and spreading sunshine and joy wherever and with whomever she met! She is a positive force and a pick me up to those that came in contact with her! Mom never met a stranger and everyone who knew her were always treated like family.

Doris Ann Seaton Morrison
My special girl, love of my life and life partner of 40+ years died on 6/09/23. She has been battling chronic pain and a host of physical problems for years, which has caused her to withdraw to our home. She never gave up hope, her love for her children and family and her belief in us. She maintained her loyalty for Donald Trump, conservative values and American traditions- much to the dismay of anyone who might challenge her on any of those issues.

I already feel her absence in my world-having that special someone who always had my back, who I could count on to see the best in me regardless of circumstances or others’ opinions.

She never stopped loving, was always ready for a good laugh.

I wish I could have done something to save her. I pray that she has found peace with God, Jesus after all these years of suffering. She used to ask when her pain was the greatest,”what am I being punished for?”

DA loved to sing, she loved reading and keeping books around her as her good friends. She loved the color red and elephants. She loved our dogs and watching birds. She loved the mountains. She was sensuous and a great love-maker. She loved her children, missed Lauree and her mother. She forever missed her father. She was abused as a child and could not let go of that experience. She was always proud of her “double first cousins”. She researched and sought out a relationship with her half-brother, Gary and his family. She was a proud member of the Toast of Tampa women’s choir and performed with them until her health problems forced her to resign.

I was lucky to be part of her life. I couldn’t believe she chose me to be her partner.
