HUGGINS---Carol (Diane) Sundie Huggins, 67, beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2017, after a valiant 15th month battle against cancer with her family beside her and the compassionate assistance of the Community Hospice staff. She was a native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville, FL., born on October 7, 1950, to the late Edward Sundie and Miriam Wilsher. Diane graduated from Nathan Bedford Forrest High School and Riverside Hairstyling Academy. After graduation, she worked at Anthony’s, Carl’s Pamper Room and Josef & Charles before opening her own salon, Paris Lane. In addition to Paris Lane, she worked at Pablo Towers as the night receptionist, then transitioned into running the hair salon before retiring earlier this year. During her career, she traveled throughout the United States to hair shows, studied under Vidal Sassoon, and one of her greatest accomplishments was traveling to London and Paris for the World Congress of Hair Design. Her passion for work expanded over 50 years, ending 2 weeks before she passed away with her last client at Paris Lane. She was a member of First Baptist Church and The Westside Club. She was well loved by her family, friends, her clients, co-workers and will be dearly missed by all.
Diane was predeceased by her son Charles Oliver (Ollie) Huggins Jr. She leaves her brother Edward J. (Jimmie) Sundie and his wife Sharon, brother Lee Sundie, sister, Cathy French, step-sister, Linda Clance, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 5-7 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 30, 2017, at First Baptist Church Ortega, 4865 Roosevelt Blvd., Jacksonville, Fl 32210. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Diane’s memory may be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida.
