The picture I posted has my added caption in red lettering that turns out to be difficult to see; it reads: “Remember these fliers passed out by strangers in front of the school one day when we were seniors? It wasn’t students starting those fights in the bleachers at the games! On my “Zebra Day” I was struck by the disparity between the facilities, supplies, curriculum, etc...shouldn’t all of the schools in
Akron have been basically the same?!? How did the South
High students feel when they visited pristine Firestone where everything was first class? 50+ years later white supremacistts are still using these tactics.”

Beverly Larsen, married to James Johnson, living in an old farmhouse in the country outside of Adrian, Michigan. I went to Adrian College, majoring in living away from home. My one & only job out of college was as a recreation instructor at a state institution for juvenile delinquents; in 2002 I qualified for an early out full retirement. I enjoy caning chairs & demonstrating my antique sock knitting machine at various living history events, and attend recreation leadership workshops throughout the US as both a participant & a presenter.

My current situation prevents me from attending the reunion. After a lifetime of excellent health, no one was more surprised than I to be diagnosed a few months ago with stage 4 pancreatic/liver/kidney cancer. I cannot think of a better candidate than me to be in the less than 1% survival rate group; please send positive vibes my way!
