The Biggest Difference When I Was in High School and Now...

  • The students did not have as big of a voice in decision making.

  • The students are not as wild.

  • I'm 14 years older.

  • Students are more open and tolerant.

  • The music.

  • Mini-skirts, long hair, hippies, corvairs, air-conditioning, and money.

  • Girls can wear blue jeans.

  • Back in the dark ages, we could not wear makeup at all.  There were no slacks in school or jeans at any school functions.  Also sadly, no surfers.

  • The students are more willing to work today for a reward than in the past.

  • The dress code or lack of one.

  • The dates...as time goes on one thing is sure, the date will change.

  • The number of different clubs and extra career activities.

  • I have more money.

  • Students speak more freely and styles have changed but the same problems still exist in growing up.

  • The teacher-student relationship. Today's teachers are concerned with the whole profile of a student not just his academics; students today are more open.  They talk to teachers more frequently.
