In Memory Sidney Erickson

LOGAN, Utah - Sidney Alden Erickson, 61, passed away at his home June 4, 2009. He was born March 13, 1948, in Logan, Utah, to C. Alden and Hilvia Clawson Erickson. He was the youngest of three children. He graduated from Logan High School and then attended Utah Technical College, certifying in autobody repair. He then worked at Miller's Autobody Shop for several years. He was a hard worker and took great pride in his accomplishments such as laying carpet with his father, hauling hay for the LDS Church and numerous hours of volunteer work. Later on, he worked at Utah State for 27 years. During that time, he met and married Gloria Goodman in the Oakland, Calif. Temple on Dec. 15, 1978. They had two sons, Quinn and Wyatt. Sid enjoyed meeting and greeting anyone who came his way. He frequently visited the Bluebird Restaurant, Angie's and the Island Market. He found fulfillment in working outside on his yard and spending time with his family, especially his two grandchildren, Hunter and Taycee. Sid is survived by his wife, Gloria; his two sons, Quinn (KatieLyn) and Wyatt, all of Logan; sister, Yvonne (F. Jay) of Garden City; brother-in-law, Darwin (Ann) Hansen of Bountiful, Utah; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles W.; his parents, Alden and Hilvia; and sister, Genae. Funeral Services will be held at noon Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Mount Logan Stake Center, 565 E. 100 South, with Bishop David Reynolds conducting. Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Mount Logan Stake Center. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by Allen-Hall Mortuary. Roger Merrill

Roger B. Merrill, 66, passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, in Pollock Pines, CA. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nyman Funeral Home. Roger is the husband of Debbie Merrill. A graveside service will be held Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Logan City Cemetery with military honors. A private family viewing will be held prior to the services from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Nyman Funeral Home.

Kristie Lee Smith Scrowther

SMITHFIELD, Utah - Kristie Lee (Smith) Scrowther, 66, passed away Nov. 15, 2015, at her home in Smithfield, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Sidney and Kathryn Smith in Logan, Utah, on Feb. 5, 1949. She married Paul W. Scrowther on Aug. 5, 1971, and is survived by Paul; two sons, Bill (Sam) of Woods Cross, Utah, and Greg (Emily) of West Wendover, Nevada; five grandchildren, Anabel and Liam (Bill and Sam), Mary Katherine, Elizabeth and Sarah (Greg and Emily); and three sisters, Marsha (Stuart) Howell, Lorie (Bill) Emmett and Vicki (Greg) Nielson.
Kris loved, among other things, to travel with her family, knit, cook, play cards and to dote over her grandchildren and dogs. Her thoughtful nature, generosity and kindness will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Brent Floyd Hansen, 67, passed away on November 11, 2016 from complications due to a heart attack. He was born in Logan, Utah to Floyd and Meda Hansen. He met his eternal companion, Sharlene, while attending Utah State University. They were married for time and all eternity on June 27, 1973, in the Logan, Utah Temple. Brent served proudly in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. Brent also served as an LDS missionary in New England. Brent was most proud of his membership to the Commemorative Air Force. He was very passionate about airplanes, especially from World War II. Brent worked as an electronics technician for Granite School District for 34 years. He enjoyed retirement and the extra time he had to spend with his family. He loved to go camping, fishing, and hunting with his sons and grandsons.

Brent is survived by his wife Sharlene, children Chad (Michelle), Chris (Jodi), Sharla (Burke), Cory (Natalee), Casey (Rachel), and Shelly (Rich). He was a loving grandfather to 8 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Brent is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Meda Hansen and his sister Clara.

Karen Nielsen

Karen L. Nielsen

Karen Nielsen, 66, died at University of Utah Hospital of cardiac arrest Monday, June 6, 2016. She was born Aug. 7, 1949, in Logan, Utah, a daughter of Ray and Esther Ashton Nielsen.
She grew up in Logan, going to all schools there, and graduated from USU within 3 years. She went in Ely, Nevada, in 1971, teaching school there and serving on the board of the hospital there, and lived there until December 2015, when she underwent surgeries in Salt Lake City and tried to rehabilitate herself.
She loved kids and animals. She was a member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings, including librarian and serving in the Relief Society presidency, which she greatly enjoyed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew and a great-nephew. 
She is survived by one brother, Raymond (Elise), nephews and their families.
The family would like to thank University of Utah Hospital and all the rehab centers in the Salt Lake area for their care and all the friends and students who visited Karen.

NORTH LOGAN, Utah - Paul Stratford Smith, 60, passed away Aug. 17, 2009. Paul was born Dec. 28, 1948, in Logan, Utah, to Stratford Smith and Phyllis Atkinson. He graduated from Logan High School in 1967 and served four years in the Air Force as an air traffic control operator during the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Beth Helm, on Aug. 18, 1973, in Logan, Utah. Paul was a brick contractor and an accomplished brick mason in Cache Valley for 37 years. He was also an avid sportsman, enjoying salmon and halibut fishing in Alaska, Washington and Canada, as well as big game and bird hunting with family and friends. His favorite pastimes were water skiing, camping and traveling with his family. Paul was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He was selfless in the giving of his time and talents to family, friends and community. Paul is survived by his wife Beth and their children, Jocelyn (Hans) Berge of Edmonds, Wash.; and Nicholas Paul Smith of Providence Utah; granddaughter Anna Jocelyn Berge; mother Phyllis Atkinson of North Logan; siblings Kathleen (Larry) Ivie of Long Beach, Calif.; David (Berneice) Smith of Teton, Idaho; and Carolyn (Harry) Wetmore of Bath, N. C. He was preceded in death by his father.
