After graduating from Ball High School in 1964, I went to Sam Houston State Teachers College. I worked for American National Insurance Company and in 1968 I began a career in law enforcement at Baytown Police Department. I met my wife Pamela in Baytown and we married in 1975. I retired from Baytown PD with 30 years if service in 1998 and continued my career at the Harris County Precinct 3 Constable Office where I was the Administrative Sergeant.
Pam and I moved to Lavaca County, Texas be close to family members there. After 43 years of law enforcement service in Texas, I retired in 2011 from the Lavaca County Sheriff's Office were I was a supervisor of the Communications Division and Administration Division.
