There was graduation at NHS in 1964 (Remember the rain?)
Ms. Ruddle's "D" in English kept me from being in NHS 1965.
Then there was 1 year of University of MD in College Park.
I flunked there because of parties and not much studying.
The next 4 years were at the Capitol Institute of Technology.
School was in DC in the old CREI building (16th & Park, NW).
I received a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Technology, '69.
My BSET, '69 minor was in control systems (Vacuum Tubes!).
I now attend alumni events for Capitol College in Laurel, MD.
I rode the first of six motorcycles to Canoga Park, California.
My first job out of college was a cashier at the Golden Arches.
Remember those parties? I met my wife and married in 1972.
I'm still married to the same woman. (42 years 9/16/14).
Then there was 21 years at WANG Laboratories, Inc.
I was laid off just prior to WANG going out of business.
Ask about a stock options based retirement (.00/month).
Only a $152.59 per month pension was salvaged (LOL).
Then I drove over-the-road 18 wheeler tanker tractor-trailers.
Made my maximum yearly income but away from home a lot.
Two major employers were W. R. Grace & Superior Carriers.
With Workman's Compensation, I took other driving jobs.
One of them was a Howard County School Bus Driver.
Next was an Independent Contractor Courier using my car.
From Maine to southern Virginia, packages delivered that day!
On Demand is different from overnight like FEDEX or UPS.
WOW! I turned sixty-five, got SSA pay but kept driving.
At the end of 2011, I gave it all up and was really retired.
A hospital stay help me make that decision but I was bored.
By June of 2012, I took an Independent Contractor job.
Finally! The end! I drive a shuttle bus for the U.S. Navy.
I'm at the Navy Research Laboratory next to Blue Plains.
On the other side is the Bolling Air Force Base off I-295.
I drive a white school bus with no flashing yellow or red lights.
One loop is about 2.5 miles long on 90 acres of property.
I do this eighteen times a day, Monday through Friday.
I'm home every night to sleep in my bed, not in a tractor.
Every night means I shower in my shower, not at a truckstop.
I'm helping y'all pay my Social Security Income (wife & I).
Any questions? I'm at the 50th NHS Reunion, ask me.
25% of retired folks choose to work. My wife stays home.
