Richard had served as Vice President of Finance at Marymount University and Mary Washington University. He died in Charlotte, NC, on April 29, 2023.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; four sons, Michael of Alaska, Charles of New York City, James of Baltimore, MD, and William of Virginia; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Gary.
