Former Pendelton resident Allison M. Velasquez, 46, passed away June 23, 2007, at her brother's home in Reading, after battling pancreatic cancer.
Allison Marie Velasquez was born Dec. 5, 1960 in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of Harold Arthur and Lillian Duwe Velasquez.
She graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 1979 and attended Emporia State University. She had lived in Wichita, Kan., Kaua'i, Hawaii; Kansas City, Emporia, Lindsborg, Kansas, and Pendelton Ind. While living in Indiana, she was a Christian educator for Silent Blessings Ministries in Indianapolis, where she was instrumental in creating curriculum to introduce deaf children to the Gospel before moving to Reading in February 2006.
Allison was a member of the Rock Creek Assembly of God in Pendleton, Ind., and had been attending Victory Fellowship Foursquare Church in Emporia.
She is survuved by her parents Harold and Lillian Velasquez of Berryton; a sister Elizabeth A. McCray of Des Moines, Iowa; three brothers, Jonathon L. Velasquez of Olathe, Brian D. Velasquez of Reading, Christian A. Velasquez of Midland, Mich.; a brother-in-law three sisters-in-law; seven nieces, and four nephews; and one great-nephew.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Victory Fellowhip Foursquare Church in Emporia. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Freeport Cemetary, Freeport, Kan.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m at Victory Fellowship Foursquare Church.
