Greetings from Wichita!
I have been amazed at everyone's travels and productivty. It has been so neat to see where the road has led some of you; military careers, business adventures, grandbabies, retirement, mission trips, etc... WOW!!! I too have had the opportunity to go on several mission trips to Mexico. All three have been to different parts of Mexico and each one was life changing for me. We are abundantly blessed to live in this country.
The Lord has been very good and faithful to me. Other than two bumps in the road (a unwanted divorce and my father's death), my life has been very blessed. I graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri with a double degree in Elementary Ed., and Early Childhood. I have taught Kindergarten, Second grade, Fourth grade and Sixth grade. I have lived in Missouri and Colorado and have enjoyed both states.
I am currently teaching AT- RISK PRE-K students for the Maize school district. Maize is a small town to the Northwest of Wichita. I spend my days playing in paint and glue; and yes, we have graham crackers and milk at snacktime! Because of the grant requirements for my classroom, each of my 20 students receive 2 home visits per school year. I am also certified as a Parents As Teachers educator, so I spend those evenings teaching the parents how to work with their children. I love this part of my job,It is very rewarding! The parents are very receptive and the students are always so excited to have you come to their home. I am on a mission field everyday, impacting little lives daily, and LOVING it!
Thurston and I have been married for 13 years and have one son together. Spencer will be a 6th grader at Maize South Middle School this fall. I just bought his new school shoes, Men's size 11. YIKES!!! He is working hard to catch up with Dad, size 17! Yes, I hope all those MAYB Basketball tournaments pay off with a scholarship someday. :)
Tyler, my oldest, is 19 and excited to be transferring to Evangel University , from Butler JUCO. He is majoring in PE and is looking forward to helping with the football team as a video assistant.
I have lived in Wichita now for 14 years and it's nice, but HOME is HOME. I miss my mom's wrap around porch, the ladderback chairs and I miss the country. I miss spending time with my mom and my little sis, Sophie. I can't wait to come home and cheer on my T-Birds! I'm thankful I won't be wearing that hot, old, clunky mascot head, but It WAS FUN 30 years ago!!! It will be a great weekend, safe travels to everyone.
