Eddie Bauman, now known as Dr. Ed Bauman. I received a Masters in Education in the early seventies, a Ph.D. in Health Education in the nineties. I was in law school for a bit after college and then decided I was more interested in health and nutrition. I moved to Western Mass in 1969 and was part of a group along with Tom Lesser who bought an organic farm in Conway, Mass in 1971. From there, I dug into organic garden, naturopathic medicine, whole food cooking, and started a natural food restaurant with others in the mid 70's in Greenfield, MA called Home Comfort. In the mid seventies, I moved to Berkeley, CA wherin I was a co-founder of the Berkeley Holistic Health Center, and wrote the Holistic Health Handbook, which helped to launch the holistic health/integrative medicine movement. In the mid eighties, I moved to New Mexico with my wife Chris, had a daughter, Jessica, and received my doctorate in Health Promotion with an emphasis in community health education. In 1989, we moved back to Northern California, wherein I wrote a state approved curriculum for a holistic nutrition certification program, which formed the basis for what is now Bauman College: Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts, a non-profit of which I am the Founder and President. I still work full time there overseeing the curriculum development and training for Nutrition Consultants and Natural Chefs, plus working through BaumanWellness.com to provide Employee Wellness Programs for hospitals and companies and virtually to teach the self care and my Eating for Health nutrition approach to people near and far. My wife, Chris and I just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. Chris is a photographer, videographer and graphic designer who worked for the college for the past 18 years and is now doing free lance work. Our daughter, Jessica is at the University of Texas in Austin pursuing a Masters in Speech and Language Pathology. I am grateful that I am doing what I love and making a difference to my profession and to the many individuals I have mentored, taught and advised. I am excited about seeing my old friends from Wilson and catching up.
