Hard to believe it's already been 30 years! Following graduation, I attended Washburn and Vo-Tec trying to decide what I wanted to be. I settled in at AT&T working numerous jobs in the company and am happy to report I'm still employed in Topeka after nearly 28 years. One of the management training classes I attended in 1989 included two other new managers and fellow classmates Gary Long and Bill Matney (small world).
Tom Arnold (Topeka West '78) and I married in 1982. He is presently the Operations Manager at the Northrop Grumman Postal Repair Facility. We have two daughters, Heather (23) and Jennifer (21) who are Washburn Rural grads.
Heather will be a 6th year senior at KSU majoring in Electrical Engineering. She is on her 4th semester of a series of internships at NASA's Johnson Space Center. Her plan is to continue working at NASA while obtaining a PhD at a grad school yet to be determined.
Jennifer is also a senior at KSU majoring in bio-chem. She works at a lab in the KSU Vet. Med. Center and another in the Evolutionary Biology Department. Jennifer is also planning on attending some type of grad school, hoping for a career in medical research. Our hope is they both are off of our payroll sometime in the near future!
Since there are no longer kids activities to keep me busy, I have taken up scrapbooking and mindless activities such as bunco. We still follow KU even though the kids are at KSU. All purple shirts found at my house become cleaning rags! I can be found volunteering at Topeka Civic Theatre and for Junior Achievement.
