After graduation, I attended the University of Kansas. I graduated from there with a BS in Medical Technology, minors in chemistry and microbiology. I went on to work for the Topeka Blood Bank, KUMC, Wesely Medical Center, and the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. My speciality was in blood banking.
I met my husband, Jim, my senior year of college at KUMC. Jim is orginally from Wichita and we married June 1985. We have 3 sons and 1 daughter. Our oldest graduated from KU this year while our youngest will be graduating from high school next spring. We bleed crimson and blue in this family and my children are 4th generation Jayhawks on my husband's side of the family.
Due to my husband's education and residency, we have lived in Kansas City,KS, Wichita, KS, and Columbia, MO. We eventually ended up in Ames, IA. We have lived here for over 17 years. And even though I got my graduate degree in Immunology from ISU, I will never become a Cyclone.
Currently, I am not working (labs are funded by grant money which there is not a lot of these days) and I was lucky to be able to stay at home with my children while they were growing up. I help run the computers for club meets, high school meets, and youth swimming at the Iowa Games. I enjoy reading, swimming, running, kayaking, quilting, counted cross stich, and I am an enthusiatic scrapbooker. I am contemplating going back to school to get a Master's in Public Health. I won't be attending the reunion due to prior plans to meet girlfriends in Vegas for that weekend. I hope you all have a good time at the reunion. I know Terri has worked very hard on this reunion so I hope she gets to catch her breath and enjoy it herself.
