I married and left Lubbock in 1970. My ex-husband and I were District Managers for Pizza Hut and fortunate enough to live in many states; i.e., California, Nebraska, New Mexico, Kentucky, Illinois, even a couple of places in Texas. After 20 years of marriage, we divorced in 1990. The first place I wanted to come back to was Lubbock - imagine that. Of all the places I have lived, by far Lubbock is the friendliest and best. I managed to put my two kids through college at Texas Tech. I worked for Covenant the first 10 years I was back. I now work at home as a medical transcriptionist. I have two children, ages 37 and 32. My daughter lives in Houston. She is a teacher/counselor and her husband is a geologist. She has two kids. My son lives in Lubbock. He is a fireman and his wife is a medical transcriptionist also, but studying to be a dental assisant. They have two kids. Jake (my son) played football for Evans and Monterey. He even had Jack Butler as his coach at Evans. What a small world we live in. I really enjoy being a "grandma". They are loads of fun. I am also very glad to be back in Lubbock. I am not sure if I will make the reunion. The sister I live with was diagnosed with lung cancer in April and we are currently dealing with radiation, chemo, etc. I will definitely try. It is really great to read all of the stories.
