LOOK WHO WE'VE BECOME

Hi all

Back in high school I couldn't imagine the year 2000 let
alone 2009. After high school I took a Civil Technology
course at Vo-Tech. Out of Vo-Tech moved to Wichita
and started work at Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) doing drafting the old style with ink and mylar.
Drafted plans for water and sewer treatment plants and residential neighborhoods, streets, sewer, water.

In Nov. 83 got married, Dec. 83 my mother died at age
48, same age as we are now. In July of 84, the week before our 5 year reunion I was in a diving accident and
suffered a broken neck. Left me a C6-7 level quadraplegic for those who know their anatomy.
Have good use of arms, wrists and shoulders, limited use of hands, no grip.

After 3 months in hospital and rehab and 2 months home I was able to return to work because at the time PEC was getting into CADD (Computer Aided Drafting and Design).

Sometime in 86 was divorced, no kids. A few girlfriends over the years but nothing serious. Continued working at PEC. Learned Autocad and Microstation, in later years at PEC worked more on Airports, and Commercial Developments. Did all the wheelchair sports, road racing, snow skiing, water skiing, rugby, no hands for basketball.

In May, 2003 retired from PEC after 23 years.
Was having health problems, some my own fault, lack of excercise, diet and was able to afford it.

Since then health has improved and doing pretty good.
Picked up handcycling for excercise and now ride 100 miles a week, more if weather cooperates, indoors on trainer in winter. Do some work with a wheelchair sports group here in town. wcsports.org if your interested. Hold events about every 6 weeks for any and all individuals with a disability. From tennis to water skiing to handcycling.

Currently single, own my own house, mow my own yard, do my own shopping, cooking, etc., do have someone clean house twice a month.

So between me, myself and I, Wheechair soports and handcycling I keep pretty busy.
