I can't even believe I'm going to this thing...

I'm a freelance writer/editor in Southern California. I also co-own a business. My life is pretty public because I didn't have the foresight to carefully curate my public presence when I joined Facebook. Thank God the internet wasn't a thing when I was in high school, is all I can say about that. I love my husband, my daughter, my dog, and my friends (old and new, online and IRL). I also love travel, reading, straight ahead jazz, peel 'n eat licorice, walks on the beach, Javier Bardem, Idris Elba, the Oxford comma (wait for it)>>>>, and high heels. Sadly, I'm aging out of the latter. In my free time, I confront corrupt elected officials and—in collaboration with some of the fiercest warriors I've ever met—I support families with loved ones navigating the criminal (in)justice system; I feel humbled to bear witness and have made some of the greatest relationships of my life through my activism. I believe in non-violent protest but when you get right down to it, I'm more of a Malcolm X girl than a Dr. King girl. How in the hell did I come out of Utah?!?
