Write something for our Memory Book

Even though I cannot be with you this weekend, I wanted to share the story of my life, such as it has been! I'm cheerfully retired after working for 30 years in higher education and a brief 3 year stint for a municipality. I've stayed in the area my entire life, watching Park Forest and Rich East go through a myriad of changes...some good and some not so good. It's definitely not the same town and school where we all grew up. Next on the docket for Park Forest is the tear-down of the old Marshall Field's...I'll be sad to see it go.
I'm happily married to John DeSimone, who is also retired from Chicago Public Schools, and we are home to nine wonderful pets...when I win the lottery I plan on starting my own animal shelter! One can hope....
I'm primary caretaker for my 83 year old mom, who still lives in the old family home in Park Forest. She has macular degeneration, and I have my hands full. I bet many of you find yourselves in a similiar position and know the challenges.
From reading the memory book, I'm surprised so many of us stayed in the area - I never see anyone. I guess we just don't recognize each other. Enjoy all the wonderful events that Toby and the group worked so hard to put together.
