Excited to re-connect with everyone! Looking over the past 50 (!) years, I've been lucky enough to have had lots of interesting experiences & supportive, loving people in my life.
I married my wonderful husband, Jeff, in '67; graduated college in '68 & grad school in '70. I taught English on-&-off for a few years (MS and college), but mostly stayed home to raise our 4 sons. (All now married; 3 are devoted daddies. One is a poet/critic/academic; one is a music supervisor at a large ad agcy., one is an aerospace engineer--yes, a "rocket scientist"!--& one will graduate from law school in May.) Later I began a radio show, "Parents' Perspective," with a partner, that was carried across the US & around the world. We interviewed experts on different child-related topics--& learned a lot! We retired after 15 years on the air, mainly b/c we both had grandchildren out of town, & were hard-pressed to work full-time & also have time to visit them! At the same time the show began, we were fortunate enough to have our 1st book contract for "Parents As Mentors," which dealt with finding what is special in your child & ways to support that/those trait(s). After a few years, the publisher asked us to write a book (that was eventually to become a series for Fodor's): "Washington, DC with Kids"--a guide that incorporated activities and discussion topics especially geared to targeted ages, to help make visiting DC a stimulating and enjoyable experience for both parents & kids. A few years after, we wrote a follow-up on the 1st parenting book, "Raising a Successful Child." By that time, our families were growing (& out of town), so we decided to take some time to enjoy the next generation. Looking forward to hearing lots of stories from our class! Sandy
