It has been 30 years since I attended a high school reunion so I'm looking forward to this. Bob White and I ski together several times a year but other than that, I haven't seen or heard from a classmate since that 10th year reunion.

I moved to Salt Lake City about a year after graduating from SIU and met my wife, Sandy, there. We just celebrated our 30th anniversary. Our oldest son Ty, is 24. He graduated from the University of Utah a couple of years ago and currently works in the Communications Department of the National Energy Foundation, a non-profit organization that develops curriculum to promote the understanding of energy use. Our youngest son, Thayne, died in a hiking accident in Moab a little over 4 years ago. He was 18 at the time.

About 2 years ago, I retired after 33 years in education. During that time I taught at the high school level and was a school and district level administrator. Currently, I am teaching part-time at the University of Utah and working with our son Ty on a project for the National Energy Foundation. Sandy works in the same University department I teach in which makes it nice--my office is about 50 feet down the hall from hers (in fact she found me the job). The joke is that Sandy and Ty both got me part-time jobs after I retired to keep me from skiing every day.

No grandkids so we have decided to get a dog! I enjoy skiing and snowboarding, hiking, backcountry canoeing, running, and working in the yard. And, of course, golf.
