If someone had asked in 1966 where I would be 50 years later, I probably would not have replied, “right here in Washington.” At the time, it would have sounded boring and lacking in a spirit for adventure if you didn’t look forward to moving on – and away – but now I couldn’t disagree more. I still love living here! I grew up as a playground kid in what is now referred to as Lafayetteland, traversing the city to faraway places such as the Palisades, where I have now lived for the past 37 years. Constancy seems to be in my nature – I’ve been married for 45 years, have worked at the same association for 27 years, and both my kids are Wilson grads, my daughter in ’95 (and her husband in ’94), and my son in ’98. They, too, loved their time and friends at Wilson, and my husband and I are fortunate that they have remained in the area with their families. Amazingly enough, my son teaches English at McKinley Tech.
As far as sports are concerned, thank goodness baseball finally returned to town – I’m a rabid NATS fan, as evidenced by my “now” picture. And, I gave up my tennis rackets for golf clubs years ago.
I look forward to renewing old friendships at the reunion and also divulging a few hidden secrets, like standing up to Mrs. Reifsnyder about not being able to wear earrings for our class pictures, and visiting a well-known local “establishment” for lunch prior to working in the guidance office. Anxious to see if my partner-in-crime remembers that!
