High school was my life...my home away from home. Band, drama, choir, science and even some studying. Very little pain as I remember. Except of course for the time I climbed out of Boeddeker's 3rd story window, dropped to the 2nd story overhang, swing down to the roof of the lunch room, eased myself over the edge and let go. I was expecting to hit the ground but found myself hanging by my ring that was caught on the metal facing around the top edge of the building. It only took a small kick to release the catch and make the final assent to the ground. My ring finger was ripped open to the bone, bleeding profusely and required a trip to North Memorial to get the ring sawed off and finger stitched up nice and clean. All this for a 50 cent bet that I couldn't do it. I loved high school.
