Isn't it amazing we've survived this long after growing up without car seats, seat belts, without child-proof medicine bottles. We rode our bikes without helmets, occasionally skinning out knee, played outside til the street lights went on, drank from the garden hose and shared out kool aid with our friends from the same cup.We would build forts from old blankets, go carts without brakes from scrap lumber, rafts to float down Bassetts Creek. We didn't have Nintendos, Play stations, 150 channel cable tv. We made our own fun, played ball at the local park and if you didn't make the little league team, well, you dealt with it and tried a little harder. We made it thru those times and became a productive generation of innovation, skilled trades persons, inventors, risk takers and problem solvers. Let's consider ourselves lucky to grow up in a time before lawsuits, government regulations and political correctness are shaping the future.
